Dear Parents and Carers,

Today we are celebrating National Teaching Assistant Day. We know that families will join us in thanking the  Teaching Assistants for being such valuable partners in supporting the pupils’ progress and wellbeing. We are fortunate at Swiss Cottage School to have such committed and caring colleagues, and thank each Teaching Assistant for making a difference every day.

This week’s Tuesday coffee morning was a great success, with families learning about the effective use of visuals to support their children. We will be offering further sessions where we will invite parents and carers to co-create visuals such as timetables and communication boards so that you can use them at home or in other spaces.

Wednesdays’ workshop - What Happens When My Child Leaves Swiss? – was very well attended and feedback from our families  were overwhelmingly positive.  We know that it  can be daunting to consider the next steps for your child when they leave Swiss Cottage School, but doing so early helps us all to work towards the best outcomes for their adulthood.

Next week’s coffee morning features a representative from the Local Authority SEN/D Team who will explain the service that they offer and can help to answer families’ questions about the Local Authority’s processes relating to Annual Reviews and Education and Health Care Plans.  See below for coffee morning themes for the next two weeks.

Finally, we’re giving advanced notice to those families who would like to join us in celebrating National Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October by wearing yellow.
