Dear Families,

This week’s newsletter is centred on our Swiss Cottage School Charity, which over the years has raised money for many activities and resources that we could not otherwise afford. Highlights include purchasing the school minibuses to access community trips, paying for residential trips for our older pupils, paying for the sensory rooms in the school, paying for specialist visitors and performances – all of these additions have been vital to support our children and young people, who deserve the very best.

Many of you will be aware that schools across the country are struggling with shrinking budgets. Special school base funding has not increased since 2013, and the top up fee that the Local Authority gives per pupil has failed to rise with inflation and in line with other specialist provisions in Camden, so the work of the charity is more important than ever.

This term, we are aiming to raise just over £5000 to invest in a new set of playground resources, such as those pictured alongside.

To this end, we are asking for families to attend the coffee morning coming up on May 12th to help us plan fundraising and promote the work of the charity. Please do come along to this, as well as any of the upcoming Coffee Morning dates listed below.

Upcoming Coffee Mornings (Tuesdays at 10am):

On May 9th, a choir will be singing at a local church to raise money for the charity (see the flyer below for Fellow Singers – Pure Gold concert). It takes place at 5pm at St Saviour’s Church, Eton Road, NW3 4SU, and anyone who would like to attend is most welcome.

For families who are able to donate to the charity, you can do so on the JustGiving page or you can get in touch with fundraising@swisscottage.camden.sch.uk and arrange directly with our finance team.

Thank you for your support,
Syra Sowe
Principal
